The absence of the prosecution counsel on Thursday delayed the arraignment of Rev. Israel Akanji, a former resident pastor of First Baptist Church, Garki, Abuja, and five others over an alleged N620 million fraud.
Scheduled to appear before Justice J. A. Aina of the FCT High Court, Kwali, the prosecution requested an adjournment, citing the lead counsel’s engagement at the National Assembly. The defence, however, expressed surprise, stating they were prepared for trial and had not been formally notified.
The case, involving charges of conspiracy, forgery, and misappropriation of church funds, has been adjourned to May 27, 2025.
