Kwara church resumes Sunday service after gunmen attack
The Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Isegun, Eruku, Kwara state, has resumed Sunday service after some gunmen invaded the worship centre on November 18.
The attack led to the killing of three worshipers, while many others were abducted.
A video of the attack, captured during a live stream and seen by TheCable, shows the worshippers conducting a service when sporadic gunshots were heard from around the church premises.
The congregation, led by a young pastor, scampered for safety as the gunshots intensified, after which some bandits were seen entering the church. The attack reportedly happened at about 6pm.
In a viral video circulating online on Sunday, a pastor of the church was seen telling the congregants to rejoice rather than mourn, saying those who were killed “died in righteousness.”
He encouraged the worshipers to have hope in the Christian eternal life, adding that divine judgement awaits the abductors.
“As a Christian, you must not fear death,” he said.
“Jesus has promised you eternal life. Let us not fear death; wherever death comes, don’t offend Jesus. As long as you don’t offend Jesus, the promise is for you that you will wear the crown of life and be in the kingdom of God.”
