I’M NOT LINKED TO ANY MILITANT GROUP – GOV FUBARA

•Warns Against Fake Social Media Posts

The Rivers State Government has strongly condemned the circulation of fake videos alleging explosions at oil and gas facilities in the state, dismissing them as deliberate misinformation aimed at inciting fear and unrest.

In an official statement released today, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Nelson Chukwudi, described the viral videos as baseless fabrications. According to the statement, these videos falsely associate Governor Siminalayi Fubara with militant groups in the state, an allegation the government categorically denies.

Communities where the alleged incidents reportedly took place have also refuted the claims, assuring the public that all critical infrastructure remains secure and fully operational.

Governor Fubara reiterated his commitment to peace and security, emphasizing that he has no affiliations with any militant group nor any intention to support actions that could endanger lives, public assets, or the nation’s economy.

The governor further warned against attempts to exploit the ongoing political situation in Rivers State to incite violence. He urged security agencies to take decisive action against individuals and groups responsible for spreading misinformation, stressing that such actions must not go unpunished.

Additionally, social media users and bloggers were cautioned against disseminating falsehoods, as their reports have already contributed to unnecessary panic and poor decision-making.

Governor Fubara reassured residents that his administration remains focused on governance and development, which can only thrive in a peaceful and stable environment.

Authorities are urging the public to remain calm and rely on credible sources for verified information.
