Former Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He made the declaration on Saturday at an event in Lagos, describing the move as part of a broader coalition of opposition parties working under the ADC platform to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

The coalition, which was formalized in July, has been courting key political figures to build what it calls a formidable “third force” ahead of the polls.

Speaking at the event, Rhodes-Vivour expressed optimism about the alliance, stating: “I am happy to become part of this family. I look forward to the unity and governance this party will bring. My prayer is for God to grant our leaders and the party structure the wisdom to chart a new path for Nigeria.”

He further stressed the need for opposition unity, warning against divisions that could weaken their chances in 2027.
“This coalition is meant to rescue Nigeria. Since after the 2023 elections, I have said we cannot afford a divided opposition. We must come together through a strong coalition if we are to deliver this country in 2027,” he added.
