Gunmen Kidnap 25 Female Students, Kill Vice Principal in Kebbi State School Attack
In a brazen attack on a girls’ secondary school in Kebbi state, northwestern Nigeria, gunmen have kidnapped 25 female students and killed the vice principal, police said Monday.
The attack, which occurred at around 4 a.m. local time, also left a security guard injured. The gunmen, described as “bandits” by authorities, were reportedly armed with sophisticated weapons and stormed the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Kebbi state.
Police have launched a manhunt for the attackers, with officers and military personnel combing the surrounding forests and possible escape routes in search of the kidnappers.
The attack is the latest in a string of kidnappings and violence targeting schools in northwestern Nigeria, where armed gangs have been known to operate.
The attack on the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, has left the community in shock. Gunmen stormed the school around 4 a.m., killing the vice principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and abducting 25 female students.
