The Owo Local Government Area Students Union (OLGASU) National Body has distanced itself from a planned protest in Owo Local Government, stating that it did not authorize or endorse the event.
In a statement signed by National President Comr. Oluwabukunmi Eniafelamo Adekolu and National Secretary General Comr. Akinyemi Abdulrahman Ojo, the union emphasized that it respects the rights of individuals to peaceful protest, but will not condone any action taken in its name without proper authorization.
“We state unequivocally that we are not part of any such protest and no directive to that effect has been issued from our office or the legitimate national leadership of OLGASU,” the statement read.
The union warned its members and the public against participating in the unauthorized protest, urging them to disregard any claims to the contrary.
“No member or chapter body should participate in such unauthorized mobilization. Nigerian students must not be used as pawns in any political agenda that does not reflect the collective decision of our association,” the statement added.
The OLGASU National Body has called on the public, media, and security agencies to take note of its clarification and treat any other claim as false and misleading.
