Two hundred and sixty students who sat for the November 2024 Bar Final Examinations have posted the much-coveted “First Class” grade.

The figure represents only 3.6 per cent of the entire 7,134 students who sat for the examination.

Details shows 940 students (13.2%) had their ambition of being admitted to the Bar temporarily truncated, as they failed the examination.

While 84% of the students scaled the arduous hurdle to be admitted to the Bar, no less than 16% were unsuccessful in their quest.

However it is gathered from an unimpeachable source that some of the results of the successful students are being withheld by the Chief Emeka Ngige SAN-led Council of Legal Education (CLE) for sundry reasons.

Meanwhile, 1,193 students (16.7%) bagged Second Class Upper Honours grade while 2,638 students (37.0%) earned Second Class Lower grade.

No less than 1,595 students (22.4%) obtained the “Pass” grade while 327 students (4.6%) received the “Conditional Pass” grade. 181 students (2.5%) were absent from the examination.

Rcall that release of the Bar Final results has been a subject of public debate, leading to a motion sponsored by Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu and Hon. Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka of the House of Representatives.

However, the Council of Legal Education in a statement dated 28th March, 2025, assured that it was finalizing the process of releasing the results, adding however that all quality checks must be met before the release.
