In just seven days, Nigeria has witnessed a horrifying escalation of terror attacks across multiple states from Sokoto to Niger, Borno to Kwara, Zamfara to Kebbi. The numbers are not just statistics; they are families shattered, communities broken, and a nation forced to confront an uncomfortable truth.
• A Brigadier General and three soldiers abducted and publicly executed in Borno.
• 64 civilians, among them women and children, taken in Tsafe, Zamfara.
• 25 female students and their principal abducted in Kebbi Vice Principal shot dead.
• 38 worshippers dragged from a church in Kwara during prayers.
• One police officer killed during an attack in Yobe.
• 8 members of the Civilian Task Force killed, 3 abducted in Gwoza.
• 15 civilians abducted, including nursing mothers and babies, two killed in Sokoto.
• 4 rice farmers murdered in Kwara.
• 52 school children kidnapped in Niger State today.This is not normal.
This is not random.
This is not merely crime.
This is an active war on the Nigerian state, on education, on agriculture, on faith, on security institutions, and on the very fabric that holds a nation together.
A Nation Bleeding in Silence
The pattern is now unmistakable: coordinated attacks, strategic targets, calculated timing. The terrorists are not just kidnapping they are testing the limits of national response, exploiting security gaps, and expanding their influence into communities that were once safe.
Nigeria has become a theatre where terrorists are evolving faster than the state is responding.
The most painful part?
Many ordinary Nigerians now receive news of mass abductions with numbness not shock. We are becoming a nation adapting to horror.
Where Are We?
We are at a crossroads:
• A point where schools places of learning have become hunting grounds.
• Where churches and mosques places of refuge have become traps.
• Where farms sources of food have become killing fields.
• Where security personnel symbols of state authority are now targets.
What does this mean?
It means the terrorists are sending one message:
“We can reach anyone, anywhere, anytime.”
And if this continues unchecked, the next message will be:
“We not the government control territory, movement and life.”
Nigeria Cannot Accept This as Reality
We must be clear: Nigeria is not powerless.
We have the intelligence.
We have the manpower.
We have the constitutional authority.
We have the resources.
What is required now is:
Coordinated national security command structure
Full deployment of technology and surveillance systems
Border security and biometric tracking
Community intelligence networks
Local government level recruitment of forest security and ranger systems
Time-bound military operations in identified terrorist enclaves
Accountability for failure not excuses
A Message to Leadership
This is not the time for political rivalry or blame.
This is not the time for silence.
This is the time for decisive, unified, accelerated national response.
Every day of hesitation means:
• More children stolen into forests
• More mothers raped and enslaved
• More soldiers ambushed
• More communities displaced
• More lives erasedA Message to Nigerians
We must resist fear.
We must not normalize terror.
We must demand coordinated action not isolated reaction.
We must refuse to turn tribal, religious or partisan about a threat that is targeting us all.
Because one truth remains:
If Nigeria falls to insecurity, no one not government, not opposition, not elite, not poor escapes the consequences.
Final Line
Nigeria is not at war with itself Nigeria is under attack. And the time to treat insecurity as a national emergency not a regional inconvenience is NOW.
