Oluwatobi Aruwajoye Joins Owo Youth Groups for Monthly Sanitation, Advocates Stronger Community Volunteering

Community development advocate Oluwatobi Aruwajoye earlier today joined members of REFIX Volunteers Group Owo, the Owo Local Government Area Students Union (OLGASU), and the Ijebu Youth Alliance for the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in Owo Local Government.

The joint exercise saw dozens of young volunteers clearing refuse, desilting drainages, and sensitizing residents on hygiene practices across major streets in Owo. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the three non-profit, community-based youth organizations to promote public health and environmental sustainability.

Aruwajoye, who took part in the exercise, described community volunteering as “vital to sustainable development” and praised the youth groups for their consistency and impact at the grassroots.

“I commend the leadership of REFIX Volunteers Group, OLGASU, and the Ijebu Youth Alliance for their dedication. Their work is proof that young people are ready to lead change in our communities,” Oluwatobi Aruwajoye said.

He urged the organizations to sustain their momentum, noting that volunteer-led interventions remain crucial in complementing government efforts on sanitation, health, and civic education.

Leaders of the participating groups said Aruwajoye’s presence was a major morale boost for members. A coordinator for REFIX Volunteers Group revealed that the team would extend future sanitation drives to markets, schools, and rural communities within Owo LGA.

Residents and business owners along the cleaned routes lauded the exercise, describing it as timely with the rainy season approaching. Many called for increased support for youth volunteer groups to help curb flooding and prevent outbreaks of disease.

Aruwajoye has been active in youth mobilization and community service initiatives in Owo, frequently partnering with student bodies and volunteer networks to advance local development.

The monthly sanitation exercise has become a flagship program for youth-led civic action in Owo Local Government, fostering cleaner environments and stronger community ownership.
