The Coalition of Yoruba Youth Leaders Worldwide has called for the immediate release of Afenifere National Youths Council President, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, who was kidnapped in Abuja on Monday, February 17, 2025.

In a statement signed by the coalition’s National Secretary, Akeem Adeleke, the group expressed deep concern over the abduction, describing it as a threat to the security and stability of the country.

“We have received distressing reports that he sustained a gunshot wound to his buttock, while his abductors are demanding a ₦100,000,000 ransom,” the statement read

The coalition condemned the incident as an act of lawlessness and urged the Nigerian government, security agencies, and all relevant stakeholders to act swiftly in securing Ojajuni’s release.

“Prince Ojajuni is a committed leader who has dedicated his life to the progress of Yoruba youths and the Nigerian nation,” the group emphasised.

The group also called on Yoruba community leaders, traditional rulers, and the general public to join the demand for Ojajuni’s safe return, vowing not to rest until he is freed.

Earlier, the Afenifere National Youths Council confirmed the abduction in a separate statement by its National Secretary, Abiodun Aderohunmu, who disclosed that the kidnappers had shot Ojajuni twice before taking him.

“The Afenifere National Youths Council is deeply saddened to announce the kidnapping of its National President, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, in Abuja, Nigeria,” Aderohunmu stated.

Authorities are yet to release an official response on efforts being made to rescue him.
