A Nigerian Naval officer, Lt. Cynthia Akor, and two others have been reportedly kidnapped by gunmen in their residence at Mpape area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.Nigerian history books

The abduction occurred on Friday night and the hoodlums are now demanding a staggering N100million ransom for their release.

Newsmen gathered that Akor is attached to the Nigerian Defence Headquarters, Abuja.

A source who spoke to PUNCH on condition of anonymity confirmed the incident, stating, “Among the three people that were kidnapped on Friday night in the Mpape area is a DHQ official, Akor.”Nigerian history books

The source further revealed that the kidnappers had already contacted the families of the hostages, making the hefty ransom demand.

“The kidnappers have already reached out to their families and are demanding N100million ransom,” the source said.

Meanwhile, Newsmen’ efforts to speak with Federal Capital Territory Police Command, were unsuccessful as the spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, could not be reached on telephone as at the time of filing this report.

Adeh, meanwhile was quoted in the report to have promised to confirm the incident and provide further details. “I will confirm and get back to you shortly,” she said. However, she has yet to revert with an update.

Further efforts to get the reaction of Defence Headquarters were unsuccessful as the Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye, and the Director of Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, did not take their calls as at the time of filing this report.
