The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered a suspected baby factory in the Ijegun area, rescuing 10 victims and arresting three suspects linked to the operation.

Police spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin said the raid followed a credible tip-off received on Saturday. Officers apprehended the alleged ringleader, 35-year-old Mariam Vincent, along with her accomplices, Orie Ruth (23) and Ujunwa Ifeanyi (18).

Seven adult women and three children—reportedly held against their will—were rescued. The adults include Precious (24), Magdalene (25), Adaobi (23), Princess (22), Ifeanyi (25), and Amaka (26), while the children are identified as Destiny (7), Miracle (5), and Success (2).

Hundeyin said initial findings suggest the victims were abducted from different parts of Lagos for an illegal child trafficking operation. All rescued persons are now receiving care, while investigations continue and suspects await prosecution.

In a wider security update, Hundeyin noted that 39 suspects were arrested in recent weeks for crimes including murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, and child theft.

Separately, police rescued two kidnap victims—Dare (40) and Rodiat (25)—on March 29 in Ijede, Ikorodu, following a coordinated response to a March 26 abduction by armed attackers. The victims have since been reunited with their families as security is heightened in the area.
