The families of the convoy staff of the late former Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, have appealed to the state government to pay them the Daily Travel Allowance (DTA) for the period the staff spent protecting the late Governor, his family, and properties in Ibadan during his return from a medical trip abroad.

Five of the convoy staff, who were approximately 55 men, including drivers, Amotekun, personnel of department of State Services (DSS), and policemen, newsmen gathered, have passed away without receiving their allowances, leaving their families in distress.

Some of the family members of staff who spoke to newsmen on Thursday, decried the non-payment of the allowances, noting that they deserved to be treated fairly and not the way they are being humiliated.

“The issue at hand concerns the payment of their Daily Travel Allowance (DTA) for the period they spent protecting Governor Akeredolu, his family, and properties in Ibadan during his return from a medical trip abroad.

“The families are calling on the Ondo State Government to intervene and provide the necessary support to these dedicated public servants.”

Specifically, they are appealing to several individuals to intervene, including: “Former aides: Mr. Aragbaiye, former Special Assistant to Governor Akeredolu; Mr. Ikoto, former Director of Protocol; Mr. Alabi, former Chief of Protocol; and Mr. Wale Akinterinwa, former Commissioner of Finance.”

“The current state government officials, they sought for their help are; Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa; Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa; the APC Chairman, Eng. Ase Adetimehin; Mrs. Wumi, Present Commissioner for Finance; and Mr. Kayode Ajulo SAN, Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Ondo State.”

Other stakeholders are; “Alh Mudasiru Adegeha, Former Accountant and Present PS to the Government House and Protocol; Mr. Abayomi Olasanya, Chief of Protocol to Governor Aiyedatiwa; and Chief Olusola Oke, among others.”

The families are urging the Ondo State Government to take immediate action to address their grievances and provide the necessary support to the dedicated public servants.
