The Nigerian government has claimed that the President Bola Tinubu is fully governing the country from France.
This was contained in a press release on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
The statement mentioned that Tinubu remains “fully engaged” with national affairs despite being thousands of miles away.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully engaged in Nigeria’s governance even though he is away in Europe,” the statement reads.
“His absence remains temporary and in line with the communicated timeframe of approximately two weeks.”
The Presidency mentioned that President Tinubu is scheduled to return back to Nigeria after the Easter holiday.
The statement reads: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully engaged in Nigeria’s governance even though he is away in Europe.
“His absence remains temporary and in line with the communicated timeframe of approximately two weeks.
“The President left Paris for London at the weekend and has maintained constant communication with key government officials, overseeing critical national matters, including directives to security chiefs to address emerging threats in some parts of the country.
“His return to Abuja and the resumption of duties at Aso Villa will follow the conclusion of the Easter holiday.
“The President’s commitment to his duties remains unwavering, and his administration continues to function effectively under his leadership.
“We appreciate the public’s concern and assure all Nigerians that governance proceeds without interruption.”
Nigeria has lately witnessed a high rate of insecurity and killings across the country.
In Plateau State, there have been several reports of killings across communities.
On Sunday night, gunmen stormed a community at about 8pm, killing over 50 people, injuring dozens — including women and children — and burning more than 40 houses.
The attack occurred just two weeks after similar violence in Bokkos LGA, which claimed more than 80 lives.
The situation has not been any better in Borno State, where the state governor raised an alarm over losing control of parts of the state to bandits.
Newsmen had earlier reported that at least eight people were confirmed dead after an explosive device, reportedly planted by Boko Haram terrorists, detonated on the Damboa-Maiduguri road in Borno State.
Newsmen gathered that the incident occurred on Saturday, leaving several others injured and taken to the hospital.
