We’ve Defeated Them At Federal High Court And The A/Court, The Same God Will See Us Through–Wike
According to a report by This Day Live on Saturday, April 18, 2026, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and a factional leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nyesom Wike, stated that any group seeking recognition as a credible opposition must demonstrate its strength through electoral success rather than relying on statements or hurried alliances.
He made this known during a courtesy visit to the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, at a time when Nigeria’s political landscape is witnessing shifting alliances as parties position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While addressing party members, Wike reaffirmed his allegiance to the newly constituted National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP.
He rejected assertions by smaller political groups presenting themselves as dominant opposition forces, maintaining that electoral performance remains the true benchmark for political relevance.
Wike also reiterated his dedication to the PDP, explaining that his visit was intended to show support for the party’s new leadership.
He said the move was aimed at strengthening unity within the party as it works to recover from internal disputes that had affected its cohesion.
He acknowledged the difficulties the PDP had encountered in recent times, noting that the party had gone through significant internal challenges.
However, he pointed out that it was steadily moving beyond those issues and beginning to stabilise.
