Owo, Ondo State – March 11, 2025

In a bold and people-centred move to tackle the perennial water scarcity affecting residents of Owo Constituency 1, the Majority Leader of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Oluwole Emmanuel Ogunmolasuyi, has flagged off a strategic constituency water project designed to ensure sustainable access to clean and potable water across the constituency.

The initiative, which is part of Hon. Ogunmolasuyi’s commitment to responsive representation and grassroots development, marks a significant step toward alleviating one of the most pressing challenges confronting households, communities, and local institutions within the constituency. The project includes drilling motorised boreholes, rehabilitating existing water sources, installing modern water storage systems, and providing solar-powered pumping solutions to guarantee a steady water supply regardless of power outages.

Speaking at the official project flag-off ceremony held in Owo on Monday, Hon. Ogunmolasuyi reiterated his unwavering dedication to improving the living standards of his constituents. He emphasised that water is a fundamental necessity and that no community should be deprived of such a basic amenity in the 21st century. “This project is not just about water; it is about health, dignity, economic empowerment, and sustainable living. The issue of water scarcity has lingered for too long in our communities. As your representative, I am committed to implementing practical solutions that bring direct relief to our people,” Hon. Ogunmolasuyi stated.

According to the Majority Leader, the project’s first phase will target high-need areas where residents have had to trek long distances or rely on unsafe water sources for daily use. Subsequent phases will ensure broader coverage and sustainability through community involvement and monitoring. The project is expected to benefit households, schools, healthcare centres, markets, and places of worship. It is also poised to support sanitation efforts and reduce the burden of waterborne diseases often associated with consuming contaminated water.

Community leaders, traditional rulers, youth representatives, and women groups who witnessed the project launch expressed heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Ogunmolasuyi, describing the initiative as timely, impactful, and reflective of authentic leadership. They noted that the water project has renewed hope and demonstrated that the Majority Leader is speaking for the people at the Assembly and delivering tangible benefits that touch lives directly.

As work begins in earnest across the selected communities, Hon. Ogunmolasuyi assured constituents that regular monitoring mechanisms have been implemented to ensure quality execution and timely completion of the projects. He also called on community members to take ownership of the facilities once completed to guarantee sustainability and community pride.

This latest intervention adds to the list of laudable constituency projects and legislative efforts already championed by Hon. Ogunmolasuyi, reflecting his commitment to inclusive governance and proactive problem-solving in line with Ondo State’s development agenda.

We sincerely appreciate the unwavering support of the Ondo State Government, ably led by His Excellency Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for creating an enabling environment and all necessary supports that made it possible for us to initiate and implement this vital constituency water project in Owo Constituency 1.

Your leadership continues to inspire developmental strides across the state, and we remain committed to complementing your efforts by prioritizing the interests and welfare of our people at all times. Together, we will continue to build a better, healthier, and more prosperous Ondo State.

Signed:

Hon. Oluwole Emmanuel Ogunmolasuyi
