The Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin, Ogunoye III, has advised Yoruba nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, and his supporters to remain law-abiding amid ongoing challenges.

The monarch gave the counsel on Wednesday while hosting Igboho and his supporters at his palace in Owo, Ondo State.

In a Facebook post sighted by The PUNCH, Oba Gbadegesin described Igboho as “a beacon of hope to his generation and future generations,” praising his resilience and leadership. He stressed that “he should not be deterred by tribulations.”

The Olowo assured Igboho and his followers of continued support and highlighted the importance of cooperation among South-West communities, noting that sustainable development thrives only in a secure and peaceful environment.

Recalling past challenges, Igboho appreciated the solidarity of South-West traditional rulers during his travails, particularly after his Soka residence in Ibadan was raided by the Department of State Security (DSS) on July 1, 2021. The attack reportedly left two people dead and led to the arrest of 13 of his aides.

“When our people were under constant attacks from hoodlums, it was the encouragement and wise counsel from the monarch that helped us remain steadfast and survive the turbulence,” Igboho said.

He also acknowledged the support he received during his previous struggles against repeated attacks by herders, which allegedly resulted in killings, rapes, and severe injuries among farmers in recent years.
