National Assembly to Commission 750-Capacity Non-Denominational Christian Chapel on March 1

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, will attend the commissioning and dedication of a 750-capacity Christian chapel at the National Assembly on Sunday, March 1, 2026, alongside former Head of State Yakubu Gowon and former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.

The disclosure was made by the Christian Legislators Fellowship of the National Assembly in a statement jointly signed by its President, Senator Binus Yaroe, and Secretary, Representative Bamidele Salam.

According to the Fellowship, the event is expected to draw eminent Nigerians from across the country and represents a significant milestone for Christian lawmakers and staff within the legislature.

The chapel, described as non-denominational, is intended to strengthen spiritual fellowship among Christian members and employees of the National Assembly. The Fellowship noted that the dedication marks the beginning of a renewed phase of organised worship and reflection within the parliamentary environment.

The commissioning ceremony is also expected to bring together prominent Christian leaders, policymakers, and dignitaries for thanksgiving and spiritual reflection.

Among the invited religious leaders are the National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Archbishop Daniel Okoh; the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Bishop Francis Wale Oke; and the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah, alongside clerics from various Christian denominations nationwide.
