A Valentine’s Day celebration turned deadly in Ifon, as a brawl between two groups of young men escalated into a series of violent incidents. The situation spiralled out of control, resulting in the death of one young man, another in a coma, and widespread destruction of property.

According to reports, the trouble began when a fight broke out between the two groups. One of the parties involved reported the incident to the Ifon Divisional Police Station, leading to the arrest of two young men from the opposing group.

However, the situation took a dark turn when the arrested individuals were allegedly brutally tortured by the police. One of the victims died yesterday morning in his cell, while the other was rushed to the hospital and remains in a coma.

The family and friends of the deceased young man, seeking revenge, attacked the family house of the individual who reported the incident to the police, razing it to the ground. They then proceeded to the Ifon Divisional Police Station, where they chased away the officers, including the DPO, and set the station ablaze.

This morning, the group gathered again to protest the police brutality and the death of their loved one. However, their demonstration turned violent when a team of police officers drafted to the scene shot at one of the protesters.

The situation remains tense, with many calling for calm and an investigation into the allegations of police brutality. The authorities have yet to comment on the incident, but it is clear that the events of Valentine’s Day have left a trail of destruction and tragedy in their wake.
