The Organising Committee of the #EndBadGovernance Movement, Lagos State, has called for a solidarity protest on Monday, March 24, 2025, at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos State.
This protest is in support of 22 victims of police brutality who are seeking justice against the Nigerian police.
The victims, including women, were arrested, stripped naked, brutally beaten, and sexually harassed by Nigerian policemen at the Lekki toll gate on October 20, 2024, the committee explained.
This incident occurred during the 4th anniversary commemoration of the #EndSARS movement, which aimed to end police brutality and bad governance in Nigeria.
The committee said the victims have sued the police to seek justice and enforce their fundamental human rights.
To ensure accountability, the committee urged supporters to join the protest and demand accountability from the Nigerian police.
The protest is scheduled to start at 8.30 am at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos State on Monday.
Titled: “Protest Rally!” The notice read: “On October 20 last year, 22 peaceful protesters including women were arrested, stripped naked, brutally beaten and sexually harassed by the Nigerian police at Lekki toll gate while commemorating the 4th anniversary of #EndSARS.”
