When The Same Thing Happened In Benue, Tinubu Said He Couldn’t Go There Because There’s Is No Road- Obi

Speaking during an interview on Symfoni TV, Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State, called for greater empathy and faster responses to communities affected by insecurity and tragic attacks across Nigeria. Obi said leaders at all levels should show compassion by visiting victims, supporting families, and ensuring prompt relief efforts whenever such incidents occur.

He stressed that public officials must always stand with citizens during difficult moments, noting that their presence can provide comfort and confidence to affected communities. According to him, timely visits and practical assistance are important parts of leadership, especially during periods of grief and uncertainty.

Obi stated: “When 200 people were killed in Niger, it took days for people to visit them. When the same thing happened in Benue, our president only went to Benue government house and said he could not go there because there’s no road. Of course, you saw what happened in Jos. He stopped at the airport.”

The former governor said his comments were aimed at encouraging stronger national unity and a more people-focused approach to governance. He added that Nigerians expect leaders to respond swiftly in moments of crisis and to demonstrate concern for every part of the country, regardless of location.

Obi also emphasized the need for improved infrastructure, better security coordination, and effective emergency response systems to make it easier to reach affected areas quickly. He noted that accessible roads, functional healthcare services, and stronger communication networks would help authorities respond more efficiently during emergencies.
