In a shocking security breach, a car thief reportedly broke into the Kano State Government House early Monday morning and made away with a Toyota Hilux belonging to the deputy governor’s convoy.

According to reports by DAILY NIGERIAN, the suspect gained entry through Gate 4 around 5 a.m. and drove the vehicle out through the main gate undetected. CCTV footage later reviewed by security officials confirmed the route of escape.

Sources within the Government House revealed that the deputy governor’s office complex is only patrolled during working hours or when the deputy governor is present, creating a possible window for the theft.

The vehicle’s driver, identified as Shafiu Sharp-Sharp, has been questioned and briefly detained as part of the ongoing investigation. “An investigation has been launched. The driver is being interrogated, while the CSO is analysing the CCTV footage,” a source disclosed.

Security agencies have been alerted with a full description of the stolen vehicle to aid in its recovery and the arrest of the suspect.

Efforts to reach Governor Abba Yusuf’s spokesman, Sanusi Dawakin Tofa, for comment were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls or messages.
