Many Nigerians Are Now Developing Stomach Ulcers Due to Hunger and Malnutrition – Dino Melaye

Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye has raised concerns about the impact of economic hardship on the health of Nigerians, particularly in relation to hunger and malnutrition.

He made this statement during an interview on the Mic-On Podcast, where he discussed the broader socio-economic challenges facing the country. In his words, “Many Nigerians are now developing stomach ulcers due to hunger and malnutrition. People now search waste bins to get food to eat.”

According to him, the rising cost of living and limited access to adequate nutrition are contributing to health issues among many citizens. He suggested that poor feeding conditions can aggravate stomach-related illnesses, including ulcers.

Melaye explained that many households are struggling to afford balanced meals, which has led to a decline in proper nutrition. As a result, he believes that more people are becoming vulnerable to health complications linked to poor diet.

He also connected the issue to the wider economic situation, noting that financial strain has made it difficult for families to maintain consistent eating patterns. According to him, this has both immediate and long-term effects on public health.

The former senator emphasized the need for policies that address food security and improve access to affordable nutrition. He noted that tackling hunger is not only an economic issue but also a critical health concern.

His comments add to ongoing discussions about the relationship between economic conditions and public health outcomes in Nigeria.

The conversation continues to highlight the importance of addressing both poverty and healthcare challenges together.
